Day trip, shared
From $90
per person, one day
Out and back from Labuan Bajo in a day, covering the icons. The cheapest legitimate way into the park and the right call when your window is a single day.
Including when we are not the answer
A boat you sleep on is not the right buy for everyone. Here is what each of the alternatives actually costs, what it gives up, and the four cases where we would send you elsewhere.

A liveaboard yacht buys you the two hours nothing else can — Padar at sunrise and a dragon walk before ten — while a day trip from Labuan Bajo from USD 90 per person covers the same landmarks in daylight, at a fraction of the cost and with a much longer day.

This compares two of our own formats, not a named competitor. If one day is genuinely all you have, the day trip is the right answer and we will book you on it.

Two nights aboard on a scheduled sailing with eight to twelve others. Fixed departures and a fixed circuit, which is exactly what keeps the price here.
From $1,550

The whole vessel, your dates and your routing. Divide by your group before dismissing it — the arithmetic turns over at around six people.
For four people or fewer, a cabin on a scheduled sailing is usually the honest recommendation, and we will make it even though the charter pays us more.
Not a boat at all
Each of these suits somebody. Which somebody is the part most comparison pages skip.
You have one day. The day trip covers the icons and costs USD 90. Stretching to a 3D2N because a website told you it was better is how people end up rushing a flight on the last morning.
You get badly seasick. Anchorages are sheltered and crossings are short, but a night at sea is a night at sea. A hotel in Labuan Bajo with day boats gives you the same landmarks and solid ground to sleep on, and there is no medal for enduring the alternative.
The trip is really about Flores. If Wae Rebo, Kelimutu and the villages are what drew you, build the land itinerary first and add two nights on the water where it fits. The park is not going anywhere.
You want to meet people. A private charter is four to twelve people you already know, which is wonderful and also, for some travellers, quiet. A shared cabin on a scheduled sailing puts three or four nationalities around one dinner table for a third of the price.

How many days, how many people, what the budget really is, and whether anyone gets seasick. We will tell you which of these six is right — including when the answer is the ninety-dollar day trip.
