The Komodo National Park entrance ticket of IDR 700,000 per person sits outside all four and is paid at the park. Any operator claiming to include or waive it is quoting you a higher number, not a favour.
Boarding
How embarkation actually works
Every format leaves from Labuan Bajo harbour. The paperwork is the captain's problem, not yours.
Arrive the day before
Fly into Komodo Airport (LBJ). Indonesian domestic flights slip often enough that landing on departure morning is a real risk — arrive a day early and sleep within ten minutes of the harbour.
Buy what you need in town
Seasickness tablets, reef-safe sunscreen and any prescription are easier to find in Labuan Bajo than aboard. There is no shop once you sail.
Transfer to the pier
We collect you from your hotel or the airport. Porters handle bags at the marina; you carry a passport and the booking confirmation, nothing else.
Board and brief
Some vessels tie up alongside, others sit at anchor and a tender brings you out at a set time. Safety briefing before the lines come off, every departure.
Harbour clearance and vessel documents are handled by the captain and our agent. Guests do not queue at the port office.
Three things worth knowing before you pick
These decide more about your trip than the vessel does.
The season
April to November is the dry season and when most departures run. July and August have the best weather and the most other boats. December to March the park stays open, but expect afternoon showers and swell.
Sunrise access
Padar at sunrise is only reachable if you slept in the park. That single fact is the honest dividing line between a day tour and everything else.
Group size
Below about six people a share cabin is almost always cheaper. Above it, a charter often is. We will do that arithmetic for you, including when it points at the cheaper option.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the park fee included in the package price?
- No, and it is quoted as its own line on every confirmation. For international visitors, the dated entrance ticket to Komodo National Park generally costs around USD 40–50 per person, while Indonesian visitors pay approximately USD 20–25. Tickets are managed through the SiORA system. Fees change; showing it separately means a change is visible rather than buried.
- Do you depart from Bali?
- No. Every departure sails from Labuan Bajo harbour on Flores. Komodo is over 400 km east of Bali, so fly Denpasar to Komodo Airport (LBJ) — about ninety minutes — and join the boat there.
- Which format is best value?
- The 3D2N share cabin, from USD 300 per person. It reaches Padar at sunrise and covers the full circuit, which a day tour structurally cannot do at any price.
- How far ahead should I book?
- Six to ten weeks for April–November dates, and three to six months for a specific vessel in July or August. Wet-season dates can usually be booked much closer in.
- Where should I stay before boarding?
- Within about ten minutes of the harbour, so the morning transfer is short. We do not sell hotels, but we will tell you whether your arrival time actually works with your departure — usually the more useful half of the question.
