Where We Appear

Press mentions are one of the few signals you can check yourself — which is exactly why they get inflated. So this page separates what journalists wrote from what we paid for or put on a wire.

In short

Komodo Luxury has been covered by Indonesian news outlets including Tempo, CNN Indonesia, SWA, IDN Times, Tribun News and VOI — and separately has had company announcements carried to more than 400 news sites through press-release syndication, which is a different thing and is labelled as such below.

  • Editorial coverage: a journalist chose to write about us. Six named outlets.
  • Syndication: we issued a release and it was republished. Reach, not endorsement.
  • The Forbes item is a paid Business Council membership, not Forbes reporting.
  • We do not reproduce article quotes here — articles get updated, archived and moved.

This compares two categories of our own press record, not two operators. Almost every travel business has both; the difference is whether the page you are reading tells you which is which.

Editorial

Outlets that chose to write about us

Named on the operator's own awards and company-facts pages, with source links available on request. We describe what each mention was about rather than quoting from it.

Tempo

One of Indonesia's established news weeklies, reporting on Komodo Luxury being named among the country's leading boat-charter operators. Indonesian-language, and the outlet with the strongest domestic editorial reputation on this list.

CNN Indonesia

Coverage of luxury boat operations in the context of marine tourism growth in East Nusa Tenggara, and of the 2024 TripAdvisor recognition. National broadcast news rather than a trade title.

SWA

Indonesia's long-running business magazine, on service quality carrying Komodo Luxury into a global top-ten attractions listing. A business-press angle rather than a travel one, which is a different kind of scrutiny.

IDN Times

A feature on the operator within the wider story of Labuan Bajo becoming a yacht and liveaboard destination rather than a backpacker stop.

Tribun News

Coverage of the TripAdvisor recognition. One of Indonesia's largest regional news networks, reaching readers well outside the travel trade.

VOI

A boat-charter industry feature in VOI's economy section, positioning the operator inside the growth of Indonesian marine tourism as a sector rather than as a holiday.

Three things that are not editorial coverage

All three are real and all three are ours. None of them means a journalist assessed us, and pages that blur that line are the reason this one exists.

Forbes Business Council

Our founder was accepted as a member of Forbes Business Council. That is a paid membership programme, and the announcement went out through the Newsfile newswire. It is not an article written by Forbes journalists about the company, and we would rather say so than let the Forbes name do work it has not earned.

Newswire syndication

Company announcements distributed over business newswires have been republished across more than 400 news sites. That is bought distribution. The figures in those releases are on the record and checkable, which is their actual value — not the logos of the sites that carried them.

Our own announcements

Group announcements published by Juara Holding Group are us talking about us. Useful for dates and corporate facts, worth nothing as independent verification, and listed here only so the record is complete.

If you want to check any of it, ask and we will send the source links rather than a logo strip. Awards, review volume and press each mean something different, and only one of them is a stranger's opinion of us.

Why we downgraded our own Forbes claim

The previous version of this page told you that appearing in Forbes mattered because "the publication vets the businesses it discusses in its travel and lifestyle reporting; it is not a paid directory listing". That sentence is the opposite of the truth. The Forbes item is a Business Council membership, which is paid, and it was announced over a newswire.

We caught it by checking our own press record against what the operator actually publishes, which lists the item as "Forbes Business Council Accepts Komodo Luxury Founder Agung Afif as Member". Nobody complained. It simply did not survive being looked at.

It matters because Forbes is the name on this page a reader would weight most heavily, and a reader weighting it heavily was being misled. The Indonesian editorial coverage above is the part of this record that is genuinely independent, and it is now the part the page leads with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Were you featured in Forbes?
Our founder is a member of Forbes Business Council, which is a paid membership programme, and the announcement was distributed through a newswire. Forbes journalists have not written an article assessing the company. We separate the two because the difference is the whole point.
What about Yahoo Finance or similar sites?
Items on financial and business sites are company press releases distributed over newswires and republished in press-release sections, which usually carry their own labelling. Read them as our own statements published somewhere you can check them in full — not as independent reporting.
Why not quote from the articles?
Because press coverage moves. Articles get updated, paywalled, archived or taken down, and a quote on our page outlives the source it came from. We would rather describe what each piece was about and send you the link.
Does press coverage make the trips cost more?
No. Rates are the same published figures regardless of where you found us — a cabin on a 3D2N from USD 300 per person, a day trip from USD 90, a private charter from USD 1,550 per yacht per night, plus the IDR 700,000 park ticket. The full table is on the price list.
What does the coverage say about Labuan Bajo?
Read together, one consistent thing: the destination has moved upmarket, and operator quality varies enormously. That gap between established operators and pop-up resellers is exactly why third-party signals matter more here than in a mature market.
Can I have the source links?
Yes. Message the desk and we will send them, along with the operator's awards and company-facts pages, which are where this record is maintained. Full press materials are available on request.

Ask us for the links

We will send the source URLs for everything above, and tell you plainly which items are editorial and which are syndication. A logo strip proves nothing; a link you can open proves something.
